Darksiders
Darksiders

It's always nice to be surprised by a good game that wasn't bombarded by hype, and Darksiders is one of those cases. With a long adventure and numerous collectibles, the game manages to mix mechanics from various genres and still delivers a very polished and fun product. With good textures and lighting effects that get the job done, the scenarios are interesting, mixing totally destroyed urban environments with more fantastical settings. Unfortunately, some of them end up becoming repetitive, especially the underground tunnels that always seem the same. Furthermore, some of the game's most beautiful scenarios can't be fully appreciated because the camera isn't static and can be moved by the player. In games of this type, I find the God of War style more appealing, with a fixed camera that allows us to see all the details of the grandiose scenarios. Despite the small flaws that make some parts repetitive, Darksiders is a very fun beat 'em up game, even if it doesn't innovate in the genre. Without a doubt, the main appeal of the title is that it uses a well-known mythology as a backdrop for its story while adding new elements to it. Highly recommended.

Gravity Circuit
Gravity Circuit

Gravity Circuit modernizes classic 2D action-platforming ideas into a phenomenal adventure. Its greatest strength lies in its agility: it's easy to run, jump, and attack enemies while trying to avoid various dangers. Mastering Kai's abilities is essential, as the stages challenge us with many creative and interesting sections. The retro atmosphere captivates us with its pixel art visuals and synthesizer-rich soundtrack. The action is intense and fast-paced, with many complicated sections. Some parts are tedious because they require trial and error, but some mechanics, such as the absence of instant death, prevent things from becoming frustrating. The journey is short, however, additional challenges encourage us to revisit it. With its frenetic pace, great stages, and fluid gameplay, Gravity Circuit proves to be an exceptional and unmissable platformer.
