Game Reviews

My first full entry into the Final Fantasy series and the best of the PS2 era. Some still say this is the peak of the series as the later entries never quite match the magic and story telling of Final Fantasy 10 (X). The sequel X-2 is widely contested as the beginning of the lost of the magic that made Final Fantasy rooted in it's soul. One of my top 10 favorites of the PS2 era.

We need more games like this! Next to games like Dishonored, I have a soft spot for steam punk theme and this game delivers the scratch for that itch. Aside from that fulfilled desire this game has a rich story, gameplay that punishes your enemies with firearms and psuedo-magic casting powered by science, delivering the themes questioning morality, self-preservation, and the contradictions of Theology. The main characters, Booker DeWitt and Elizabeth are lovable with their father and daughter like dynamic, despite meeting as strangers facing the madness within the flying city of Columbia. The world is an alternate history of both late 19th century and early 20th century America, and this story will twist your sentiments as you fight towards the end. Even if you are not a fan of FPS genre, I still highly recommend this for it's immersion, story, and music. Definitely in my top 50s games of all time. Did I mention there is time travel?
