Borderlands Game of the Year Enhanced

Level design shines most in enclosed areas, where enemy placement, cover, and environmental hazards like explosive barrels make combatencounters far more interesting. These spaces do a lot of heavy lifting for the game’s moment-to-moment fun. One thing Borderlands absolutely gets right is pacing. There are very few cutscenes and minimal dialogue that outright stops gameplay. Compared to later entries that aggressively interrupt the player, this feels refreshing. I’d still prefer the option to skip dialogue entirely, but at least the game mostly lets you play.
