38 Studios was an American video game company founded in 2006 by former professional baseball player Curt Schilling. Originally known as Green Monster Games, the company later changed its name to 38 Studios and focused on developing large-scale role-playing games. Its most well-known project was Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, released in 2012. Although the game received generally positive reviews, 38 Studios faced serious financial difficulties and eventually shut down in 2012. The company's rise and sudden collapse became one of the most notable stories in the video game industry, highlighting the financial risks involved in developing major games.
